Tuesday July 9th: 20 Years Celebration
Tuesday July 9th
Tuesday was a very special day in camp. Between starting the last round of classes and relays, campers and American teachers celebrated having 20 years of camp. Any and all former campers were invited back to camp for the celebration and s'mores.
Here are some thoughts from the campers in North Carolina:
"Tuesday was such a good day, we had a lot of activities. First activity was relays. It was outside and we had a lot of fun from tasks. Second activity was the celebration of 20 years. There was a performance of Sofia and Julia, where they played on bottles from paint, drums. That's was very cool. After that we ate s'more cookies with chocolate and marshmallow."
"We have classes, games and homeroom. But in the afternoon we have a celebration of 20 years in camp and of Latvia and America's friendship. We watch video, sing songs, meet last campers. But I like time when we cook s'mores. It was very funny and very tasty! I love this time when we spend with friends and our teachers!"
"Yesterday we had relays at which we did some fun tasks with toilet paper. Our state made mummy from one girl and she had to run between us and get to white line first. We didn't win but that was fun. We had an awesome day with a sweet treat at the end!"
"We watched a video about our 3 weeks in camp. It was amazing because we have a lot of friends in our camp."
"At relays we didn't cheat and did all exercises. There were some team work exercises and I loved them!"
Class Time: Campers were and will be especially busy during their last round of lessons as all of the teachers are wrapping things up. From homonym bingo, to presentations on their amusement parks and inventions, to circle stories and tessellations, and handicap awareness posters there is plenty to do!
